btt button

From Deb over at

So, it’s my birthday today. (Please, no applause.) But it’s inspiring today’s question–

What, if any, memorable or special book have you ever gotten as a present? Birthday or otherwise. What made it so notable? The person who gave it? The book itself? The “gift aura?”

A few years ago, a leaking … ceiling maybe?… ruined a bookshelf of books I had.  One was a very special (to me) color illustrated version of The Phantom of the Opera illustrated by Greg Hildebrandt.  Keith bought me a version (apparently they are very hard to find) for Annivalmas one year. (You DO know what Annivalmas is, right? Its the mix of anniversary, valentine’s day and Christmas all rolled into one.  Its really the cheaper way to go when all three holidays fall into the same three month period.)  Now the book sits on a much sturdier book case and hopefully away from leaky ceilings.

Wow, I’m going to have to remember Annivalmas – what a great idea. Of course with us it would involve a birthday instead of an anniversary, but we should be able to adapt it somehow.

Its really a great idea. And it saves us money. We typically go out of town for the weekend and just celebrate US.
