Back in the Saddle

March 3, 2010

Its been almost two weeks since we got back from Haiti and I feel like I am getting back into the swing of things. I was helping my dear friend, Teresa build a blog this morning and decided mine needed to be overhauled. Then I realized I hadn’t posted since before we left. Haiti was wonderful and I will update soon. Just a few notes:

I still don’t have our blogs posted.

I still don’t have a clean house.

I do have a clean kitchen table finally.

I signed up to take an online class! NOT for credit this time. The class is “Foundations and Principles of Holistic Ministry”. Here’s the description: “This course lays the foundation for understanding the appropriate goals and strategies for churches and Christian ministries working in low-income communities. It is an orientation course that discusses the question of poverty, proposes a Biblical framework for understanding poverty and holistic development, and examines the role of the local church in the economic empowerment of poor people.” I’m pretty stoked.

I have books coming out of my ears to read. I can’t wait to get them all started!

I am getting a Kindle! It really wasn’t that hard to convince Keith that it was a wise investment! Its an early Annivalmas present. I love to hold books though, not sure how this is going to go over with me.

I’ve been plotting out my garden already. I have a spreadsheet put together of what I am planting, what day I am planting and where I am planting. Woohoo for being organized this year.

The kids are good. They missed us terribly while we were gone, were excited to have us back for a day or so and then the new of having us back wore off really fast and they are back to rolling their eyes at us now.

I made the cutest bag the day before we left for Haiti. Ha – you can tell its made by a beginner but I love it! Its black canvas with a few big pockets all over it made out of cherry print fabric. Oh. Did I mention this is a DIAPER BAG? Yeah. *giggle* It’s a small bag though.

I’m couponing. I figure, heck, I have the time to actually do it, so why not save the family the money? I actually enjoy the challenging myself to see if I can keep my total below a certain $$$ amount anyway, so this could be fun. $

Wow. I have went from the punk-rock-out-all-night-mom to the ultimate Donna Reed with piercings and tattoos. If only Donna Reed had fed the homeless at Miller Plaza and Haiti…

Its good to be back.

yes, it is a weird feeling to go from party girl to being at bed in 730pm every night. lol I’m mostly fine w/ it though. Too bad Eric isn’t.

I ❤ coupons! If an item isn't on sale or I don't have a coupon for it, I don't buy it. Unless it's something we HAVE to have, like milk or bread. Since ERic works for Kroger (part time) now, we get 10% off their store brand items which is nice…I've been saving $30-40/week between sales, his discount, and using coupons. Usually comes out to being %20 off the total bill.

I haven’t quite gotten the hang of it… most nights, I am ready for bed by 9, but sometimes I really take a look at my life and go “What happened to me?” and then I laugh and curl into bed next to Keith and sigh contentedly. What sappiness huh?

Check out my soon to be posted post on my first couponing experience!!!!

Eric never goes to bed when I do…hell, he doesn’t get home from his night job til midnight or so. 😦 and by then Cooper is in the bed w/ us so there’s no cuddling up w/ him. Found a cute cartoon the other day though-had a pic of mom, baby, dad in bed and the caption was “the cuddliest form of birth control”. lol
